CROCHET PEEKING CAT BUTT COASTER PATTERN

Materials Required:

4.5 mm crochet hook

Loops and threads yarn, white, pink, orange

Tapestry needle

Scissors

Buttons (optional) for cat eyes

Abbreviations:

SC – single crochet

DC – Double crochet

HDC – Half Double Crochet

SS – Slip stitch

MR – Magic Ring

SC Inc – 2 SC in one stitch called as SC incremental stitch.

DC INC – 1 DC in one stitch (DC Incremental stitch)

Instructions:

Round 1: With pink yarn, make a magic ring. Make 6 SC into the magic ring. Switch to white yarn .SL

ST to beginning of row. (6 stitches). Tighten loose end of pink yarn to close the magic ring. Cut pink

yarn leaving about 4 inches to weave in later.

Round 2: CH 1. Make 2 SC in every ST around. SL ST to beginning of row. (12 stitches)

Round 3: CH 1. *Make 2 SC in the first ST, then 1 SC in the next ST. Repeat from * to end of row. SL ST to beginning of row. (18 stitches).

If you are using two shades, bring in orange yarn at the 6th SC to change color and continue for 10

stitches then change to white yarn.

Make sure to bring in the white yarn as you crochet with orange yarn and vice versa. The other color yarn needs to be carried along while you crochet at the flip side.

Round 4: CH 1. *Make 2 SC in the first ST, then 1 SC in the next 2 ST. Repeat from * to end of row. SL ST to beginning of row. (24 stitches).

Round 5: CH 1. *Make 2 SC in the first ST, then 1 SC in the next 3 ST. Repeat from * to end of row. SL ST to beginning of row. (30 stitches)

Round 6: CH 1. *Make 2 SC in the first ST, then 1 SC in the next 4 ST. Repeat from * to end of row. SL ST to beginning of row. (36 stitches)

Round 7: CH 1. *Make 2 SC in the first ST, then 1 SC in the next 5 ST. Repeat from * to end of row. SL ST to beginning of row. (42 stitches)

Round 8: (Cat’s Tail) Ch 18. Slip stitch into 2nd chain from the hook. SC into next 2 stitches. SC Inc into next 3 stitches. SC in next 10 stitches. There will be one stitch remaining. Leave that as such. Skip 1 chain on the cat’s body and make slip stitch in next stitch. Continue to do slip stitch in each of next 18 stitches.

Cat’s Legs: *(Ch 6. Slip stitch into 2nd ch, SC, HDC in next 2 stitches. One stitch will remain. Skip one stitch on the cat’s body and slip stitch into next stitch.) Slip Stitch into next 2 stiches.

Repeat from Ch 6. Continue to make slip stitch in each of the stitch till the tail.

Head:

Remove hook from the loop.

Flip, insert the hook in the front loop of the opposite chain stitch and then to the working loop; pull it tight and make chain 1. Refer first picture below.

Row 1: SC, HDC, DC INC, DC in next 3 stitches, DC INC, HDC, SC, CH 1, flip.

Note: we will be working on the front loop of the base chains. You can change colors in this row as well. I have changed the color to orange yarn at the 3rd stitch as you can see in the second picture above.

Row 2: Skip first chain, SC INC, HDC, DC INC, DC INC, DC in next 3 stitches, DC INC, DC INC, HDC, SC

INC, flip.

Row 3: Slip stitch in next 5 stitches, *(ch 5, slip stitch in 2nd ch from the hook, SC, HDC, DC, skip next 2 stitches on body), slip stitch in next 2 stitches.

Repeat from ch 5, slip stitch in next 5 stitches.

Finishing off: Chain 1 and pull up the loop, cut yarn. Weave in loose ends on the flip side.

You can optionally stitch yellow buttons for the cat eyes. Cute cat butt coaster is now completed.
